POOR GIRL

If you enjoying the Cinderella story, do you know that there are about 500 version of the story about a poor girl who married a royal prince after she been choosed with a shoe?

In the first century BC, there is a story about Rhodopis, a Greek-Egypt girl that married one of Firaun King from Egypt. This story told when Rhodopis washing her clothes in a river, an eagle stole her shoe and drop it in the foot of Firaun Amasis in Memphis.

It said that Rhodopis considered as a fairytale from Thracian people, an ancient tribe that live in Rumania and Bulgaria now. This tribe live in about 6th century BC. So, there is a possibility that this tribe who has created the cinderella story.

China also has a story about Ye Xian that written by Ch'eng-shih in year 850. Ye Xian is an orphan girl who has a fish friend, but in one day, the fish has been killed by her step mother. The girl keep the bone of the fish that has a miracle power. One day, she came in a spring bowl, and when she has to came back home in a hurry, one of her shoe is slipped off, and left, and found by a prince. In this story, it is told that Ye Xian has small feet.

The modern Cinderella story begin from the story that written by Charles Perrault, a Franch writer, in 1697. In the beginning, the girl named Cindrillion, but when the story is being translated and spread to other Europe countries, her name become Cinderella.

Many people said that Cinderella is not a real name. So there is a roumor that her true name was Ella. Because she always clean up the cinder, so the Cinderella name popped out.
