TELUK PENYU BEACH, CILACAP

It is probably not as famous as Kuta Beach in Bali or some other beaches in Indonesia, but, it’s famous enough in Cilacap, Purbalingga, West Java, Indonesia.

I went here last weekend. Actually, it is not in our schedule to visit the beach. We went to Cilacap to visit our family in Karang Talun, Cilacap.

We left Tegal at 5.30 in the morning, and arrived in Cilacap at 8.00. On the way to my family’s house, we suddenly had thought that it’s been a long time since the last time we had picnic together. So we decided to go to Teluk Penyu. Unfortunately, the beach is not too easy to find. There are some signs in the street that shows you the direction of the beach, but when we follow it, we get lost, so we have to asked some people around. And after about an hour, we finally found the beach.

After paid tickets for Rp 5000,- per each person, and the car has parked, we took a walk around the beach. But soon, it’s not the beach that attracked us most, but it was the souvenir shops that stand along the beach. There are so many of them. Most of them sold souvenirs and crafts made from shells, and other sea creatures. They sold, lamp caps, curtain, brittle, and some other kind of crafts. The price is ranged between Rp 10.000,- to more then Rp 100.000,-.

From the beach, we can see Nusakambangan, an island that famous for the prison that located there. But, Nusakambangan also interesting to visit because of its beauty.
